Security & CCTV Cameras

Security is present at the campus entrance 24/7. No one is allowed inside the campus without the permission of the Principal. CCTV cameras are installed all around the campus for monitoring and safety. The campus being located in a forest area, fencing has been installed at the boundaries providing protection from wild animals and trespassers. The college also has trained guard dogs that patrol the campus in the evenings for additional security.

Anti-Ragging Policy
Ragging is a criminal offence as per The Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998 and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

What is Ragging?

Ragging is defined by the Supreme Court of India as:
  • Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

(Raghavan Committee Report, 2007, para. 3.19)

Prohibition of Ragging

Ragging within the college campus including but not limited to its departments, offices, classrooms, common areas, open spaces, hostels etc. is strictly prohibited. Ragging in any form is prohibited inside or outside the campus.

Penalty for Ragging

No person who is a student of an educational institution shall commit ragging. The Supreme Court of India has ordered that “if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution.”
Those found guilty for ragging (both involved directly or aiding ragging) will be liable for one or more of the following punishments depending upon the gravity of the offence.
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Suspension from attending classes
  • Fines
  • Withholding / withdrawing scholarship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination / withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional / national / international events / tournaments / festivals
  • Permanent Expulsion from the hostel / institution 
  • Collective punishment when persons committing or abetting the crime cannot be identified

Smoking/Drugs/Alcohol Free Campus
Munnar Catering College maintains a strict smoking, drugs and alcohol free campus.
The college does not tolerate or condone the illegal use of drugs or alcohol, smoking, using tobacco or e-cigarette products by employees in the workplace, or by students on the campus including but not limited to its departments, offices, classrooms, common areas, open spaces, hostels etc. or at any college-sponsored events.
Illegal use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes or look-alikes includes the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of any controlled substance.
Those found guilty of any of these activities (both involved directly or by aiding) will be liable for one or more of the following punishments depending upon the gravity of the offence.
