About Us

Munnar Catering College was established as a brand that would exclusively offer programs in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism and Catering Technology. Cochin was chosen to be the second location for the college’s city campuses as it is the largest and the most populous metropolitan area in Kerala. Cochin ranks first in the total number of international and domestic tourist arrivals in Kerala and the city was ranked the sixth best tourist destination in India according to a survey conducted by the Nielsen Company on behalf of the Outlook Traveller magazine.

Over the years, the college has been affiliated to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA); Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar; Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

In 2021 Munnar Catering College, Cochin was approved by CVESD (Council For Vocational Education & Skill Development), which is licensed from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India, as an ‘Authorized Affiliated Centre.’
In 2021, the college also signed an MOU for Academic Cooperation with HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland.

B-Voc in Catering Technology and Hotel Management (MCC, India and Jain University, India)
B-Voc in Tourism and Hospitality Management (MCC, India and Jain University, India)
Tripatite co-branded Professional Hospitality Certification courses in Culinary Arts, Food and Beverages, Rooms Division, Luxury Housekeeping, Sales & Reservation from NSDC, HTMi and MCC

Approvals and Affiliations

Munnar Catering College, Cochin is approved by CVESD (Council For Vocational Education & Skill Development), which is licensed from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India, as an ‘Authorized Affiliated Centre.’ With this affiliation, students pursuing a 1 Year Diploma in Professional Cookery, on successful completion, will get a Diploma Certificate from both Munnar Catering College and CVESD.

The college has also signed an MOU for Academic Cooperation with HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute, Switzerland. Under this MOU, MCC students studying at all 3 campuses in India – Munnar, Cochin & Trivandrum – are eligible to be awarded Swiss Dual Diplomas and gain admission into exclusive pathway programs to convert their Diplomas into UK Degrees and Swiss Masters qualifications.

Hostel

The Cochin campus is a non-residential campus. We do not offer our own hostel facilities. However, the college can recommend affordable hostels and paying guest accommodation close to the college.

Discipline and Safety

SMOKING/DRUGS/ALCOHOL FREE CAMPUS
Munnar Catering College maintains a strict smoking, drugs and alcohol free campus. The college does not tolerate or condone the illegal use of drugs or alcohol, smoking, using tobacco or e-cigarette products by employees in the workplace, or by students on the campus including but not limited to its departments, offices, classrooms, common areas, open spaces, hostels etc. or at any college-sponsored events.

Shibu George
Principal

Shibu George is a 30 year veteran in the Hospitality Industry. He has a 3 year Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Science and a Swiss Certificate in Hospitality Education. He has worked in India and abroad with many different hotel brands including – Fariyas Holiday Resort, Taj Group & Holiday Inn. He was a member of the Board of Studies for Hospitality Management, Tourism & Culinary Arts at the University of Calicut, Kerala.

Sujatha P.S
Administrator & Sr. Accountant

Sujatha started her career as an Accountant with School of Engineering, a sister college of Munnar Catering College. She has a B.Com and a DCA. She has worked with the company for 30 years and during that time was promoted as Administrator and Senior Accountant of Munnar Catering College, Kochi.

George Mathew
Lecturer

George Mathew is one of the oldest faculty members at Munnar Catering College. He holds an M.Com and B.Com degree. He has 19 years of experience as a Lecturer teaching subjects like Hotel Accountancy, Management and Law.

Martin Thomas
Lecturer

Martin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management. He has 10 years of experience in the Culinary Department, including experience in Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner as a Chef.

Naveen Joseph Puthur
Lecturer

Naveen has 13 years of experience and holds a 3 year Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology. He has worked in the Hospitality Industry mainly in the Housekeeping department. He has both national and international experience with hotels like – One & Only Royal Mirage,UAE, Leela Kempinski, Bangalore, Le Meridien, Bangalore, Hotel Sea Princess, Mumbai and Hamed International Airport Hotel, Qatar.

Anu Chacko
Lecturer

Anu has 11 years of experience and has an MPhil and an MSc in Microbiology. Previously, she has worked in the industry for 6 years and also has 5 years experience in the teaching field.
